Welcome
World-renowned Alpert Medical School, a national leader in medical education and biomedical research, welcomes Visiting International Medical Students (VIMS) from international medical schools to apply to take final-year clinical electives.
If you are in your final year of medical education, you may apply to take four-week clinical electives for a maximum of six (6) months. VIMS may not apply for core clerkships at Alpert Medical School. To find out if your medical school is on our approved list, contact our clerkships coordinator, Lori_Avallone@Brown.edu.
If your school is not included on our approved list, you may have the dean of your medical school contact our Associate Dean for Visiting International Medical Students, Dr. Julianne Ip at Julianne_Ip@Brown.edu. Individual students should not contact Dean Ip.
School Policies
Visiting International Medical Students are subject to the same rules and regulations that apply to Brown University students and Brown medical students. Violation of any school policy may result in immediate withdrawal from the program. School policies are outlined in Tenets of Community Behavior (part of the application), and the Brown Medical Student Affairs Handbook to which we encourage you to refer.
Please read all the information on the web site carefully and ALL the instructions, BEFORE applying to Alpert Medical School for clinical electives as a Visiting International Medical Student.
