Alpert Medical School supports international exchange programs with the institutions listed below.

Bruce Rappaport Medical School Technion Institute of Technology Israel

Brown Coordinators: Dr. Julianne Ip/Dr. Jeffrey Borkan
Description: From Brown-One Brown student per year is supported by the Nathan-Giddon Scholarship to attend Technion on a one-month clinical elective or independent study. The scholarship provides transportation, room, board and tuition. Brown medical students apply for this opportunity through the Office of Medical Student Affairs and the Clerkship Coordinator. From Techion-Two Technion students every other year come to Brown for up to three months.

Moi University School of Medicine Kenya

Brown Coordinators: Dr. Jane Carter
Description: From Brown-Twice a year, two-four Brown students go to Moi with Dr. Carter for a one-month rotation. From Moi-Four Moi students come to Brown once a year for two months.

National Cheng Kung University School of Medicine, Tainan, Taiwan

Brown Coordinators: Dr. Julianne Ip/Dr. James Sung
NCKU: Dr. Charles CH Lin Coordinators:
Description: From Brown-Brown medical students for a combined total of 8 elective student-months per year to attend NCKU. Tuition is waived and housing is provided by NCKU. All travel and living expenses paid by students. From NCKU-Four NCKU students for up to two months each per year come to Brown. Tuition is waived. All other fees, living expenses and travel paid by students. Partial financial support for both Brown/Alpert and NCKU students may be provided by the Luke Charitable trust.

Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, Israel

Brown Coordinators: Dr. Jeffrey Borkan/Dr. Thomas F. Tracey, Jr.
Description: From Brown-Two Brown students for up to four months each per year to attend Sackler. Tuition is waived. All other fees, living expenses and travel paid by students. From Sackler-Two Sackler students for up to four months each per year come to Brown. Only one of said two Sackler students can be from the Sackler School of Medicine, New York State/American Program. Tuition is waived. All other fees, living expenses and travel paid by students.

University Of Rostock Germany

Rostock: Dr. Dagmar Ronnecker Coordinators:
Description: From Brown-Dependent on DAAD funding, up to ten Brown students (medical and PLME) are provided with tuition, room, and partial board in the Rostock two-week summer course on Growing Old -- The Medical Perspective of Aging. From Rostock-Two Rostock students per semester take up to four months of clinical electives at Alpert Medical School.

University Of Tuebingen Germany

Tuebingen: Dr. Carsten Kohler Coordinators:
Description: From Brown-Up to fifteen Brown students (medical and PLME) are provided with tuition, room and partial board in the Tuebingen two-week summer course on Comparative Health Care Systems and Medical Ethics. From Tuebingen-Two Tuebingen students per semester take up to four months of clinical electives at Alpert Medical School

Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China

Zhejiang: Dr. Lucy (Xiaoe) Lou Coordinators:
Description: From Brown-Two Brown students (medical and PLME) for two months each per semester to attend Zhejiang. Tuition is waived and room and board provided by Zhejiang. All travel expenses paid by students. From Zhejiang-Two Zhejiang students for up to two months each per semester come to Brown. Tuition is waived. All other fees, living expenses and travel paid by students.
Partial financial support for both Brown/Alpert and Zhejiang students may be provided by the Luke Charitable trust and/or the Sheldon and Hong Chang Pang Endowment.
