Dr. Simmons brings extensive experience in medical education, research and practice to the Office of Minority Medical Affairs. She received a degree in chemistry from Tougaloo College and went on to earn an MD from Alpert Medical School. As Assistant Dean, Dr. Simmons provides academic, professional, and personal mentoring and advising to EIP students and medical students. She is actively involved in recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority students at Alpert Medical School.
She is also an active member of the Alpert Medical School community, she sits on the boards of Brown Medical Alumni Association and the Office of Women in Medicine. She is a member of the Brown-Tougaloo Advisory Committee, and the Center for AIDS Research Minority Working Group among others.

Dean Domenech divides her time between OMMA and the Brown University Admissions Office. Dean Domenech serves as academic and personal advisor to students in the Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) and medical students. She meets with students to discuss and assess their academic progress, and personal concerns, remaining in close contact throughout the year.
Dean Domenech is also in charge of the pre-selection to the PLME Program. As part of this job, she is responsible for examining over 2,200 files each year, choosing finalists for the reviewers, and distributing those files to the PLME Selection Committee for final review, culminating in the selection of the PLME freshman class. Dean Domenech is also a member of the PLME Selection Committee. She also travels often to visit schools across the country to recruit students for Brown University and the PLME program, host Focus receptions and attends alumni events all over the United States.

Zoila comes to OMMA from Salem State College where she earned her Masters of Education and led the Salem Upward Bound Program. She currently directs the overall operations of OMMA. She manages and implements diversity programs and initiatives within the medical education program. She serves as the central liaison between students, faculty, and other constituents with whom the office interacts. Manages and coordinates recruitment activities. Manages and optimizes outreach and mentoring activities for students. Coordinates and facilitates OMMA events for medical students, including, workshops, networking opportunities, and receptions. Zoila also provides planning support for the Daniel Hale Williams Medical Society.
