Dean Monroe serves as Associate Dean for Diversity in the Division of Biology Medicine with responsibilities for recruitment, mentoring and retention of medical students, graduate students, and faculty from groups traditionally underrepresented in medicine and science. She hosts recruitment and faculty development events and she serves as a career mentor and advisor concerning professional and personal concerns. She enjoys getting to know students and faculty. Dean Monroe serves as the faculty advisor for the Daniel Hale Williams Medical Society, the Student National Medical Association’s regional chapter at Brown. Her academic interests include raising awareness about cultural competency, disparities in health care and the social context of obesity. Dean Monroe maintains a clinical practice at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island where she is a physician in the Department of Family Medicine. Dean Monroe completed her undergraduate work at Brown and her medical education at Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dean Domenech divides her time between OMMA and the Brown University Admissions Office. Dean Domenech serves as academic and personal advisor to students in the Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) and medical students. She meets with students to discuss and assess their academic progress, and personal concerns, remaining in close contact throughout the year.
Dean Domenech is also in charge of the pre-selection to the PLME Program. As part of this job, she is responsible for examining over 2,200 files each year, choosing finalists for the reviewers, and distributing those files to the PLME Selection Committee for final review, culminating in the selection of the PLME freshman class. Dean Domenech is also a member of the PLME Selection Committee. She also travels often to visit schools across the country to recruit students for Brown University and the PLME program, host Focus receptions and attends alumni events all over the United States.

As a Learning Specialist, Phil Tetreault provides one-on-one academic support and counseling sessions for medical students and undergraduate PLME students. He assists medical students and PLME students by improving their study skills, learning strategies, time management, organization, and/or test-taking skills, and coaches students in meditation and relaxation techniques. Phil also helps students determine the source of their academic difficulties, whether these arise from personal, emotional, or external sources.
In addition, Phil hosts Study Groups and workshops for medical students preparing to take their Step 1 and Step 2 licensing examination (USMLE), provides individual and group tutoring sessions for board prep, and provides referrals for educational or psychological testing.

As the coordinator of diversity and minority affairs, Zoila Quezada leads many of OMMA's projects.

Zoila graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey and went on to earning a Masters of Education at Salem State College in Salem, Massachusetts while working as a Graduate Assistant for the Department of Residence Life. Before coming to Brown University she worked as a Project Coordinator for the SSC Upward Bound Program.

She has been an incredible addition to the OMMA staff.
