Women and Infants Hospital has declared a vacancy for the position of Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief/Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The person eventually selected for this position is expected to qualify for a full-time faculty position at Brown University at the Rank of Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chairperson of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Brown University and Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island are seeking an outstanding academic physician to serve as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The individual we seek is expected to hold a medical degree, be board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and be eligible for medical licensure in Rhode Island. The individual will be expected to plan, manage, and implement academic programs that foster the professional and scholarly growth of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. As the Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief, the chair is expected to provide clinical leadership to the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and to the medical staff at the Women and Infants Hospital and at the Rhode Island Hospital.
Applicants must possess experience in working in an academic medical center environment in a position of senior responsibility and must have a demonstrated record of excellence in scholarship, clinical service, and academic administration. Demonstrated success in attracting extramural peer-reviewed research funding is preferred.
Applicants must hold a senior faculty rank in an accredited medical school, and be qualified for the rank of Professor at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Administrative experience as chair of an academic department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as Division Chief, or as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief in a major teaching hospital is desirable.
Applicants should have attained national and/or international recognition as evidenced by involvement with academic societies, publications in refereed professional journals, and formal presentations at academic meetings.
