Mission Statement

The IACUC acknowledges the importance of animals in research and our scientific and ethical responsibility for their humane care and use. We are committed to insuring the health and well being of the animals used in research and education at Brown University. To this end we use the regulations and guidance of such bodies as the US Department of Agriculture, Nation Institutes of Health - Office for Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW), and the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care - International (AAALAC). Please address animal care concerns to the Director of Animal Care or the Committee.

Administration

Administrative functions are conducted out of the Research Protections Office (RPO) in the Brown Office Building. Animal Use Applications and renewals need to be completed and delivered to the RPO or send to Box 1986 allowing at least 3 weeks to process the review. Please address your administrative questions to the IACUC Coordinator. The campus veterinarians have their offices in the Animal Care Facility office in the BioMedical Center and are available for consultation and assistance on animal care and experimental questions.
