Alpert Medical School Scholarships
Alpert Medical School is deeply grateful to the thousands of donors who offer generous scholarship support to our medical students. Through a combination of endowment income, annual gifts and grants from the federal government, AMS is able to offer nearly $3.5 million dollars per year in institutional scholarship funds to 46% of all aid recipients. The average scholarship award in 2007-2008 was approximately $20,000.
Financial aid applicants who qualify for institutional funding are considered automatically for the Alpert Medical School scholarships and fellowships . Except for clinical year scholarships to MD/PhD students, all institutional scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need. Academic performance and class rank, however measured, are not factors in the amount or type of financial aid provided that recipients meet the academic requirements for continuation in the medical school. Certain scholarships or prizes also require consideration of academic excellence, specific practice plans, or other factors by the expressed intent of the donor.
