Important Notes:

1. The parent contribution figure used in the institutional aid example represents the average parent contribution of all aid recipients in the 2007-2008 year. Parent contribution amounts are individually calculated and are based upon several factors, including parental income and assets, number of family members, number attending postsecondary institutions, and other factors.

2. The student contribution figure represents the standard contribution expected for students in the first and second years of medical school. Actual student contribution amounts may be higher depending upon the student's income, assets and other information.

3. Students may cover part or all of their assessed family contribution with additional loans, if necessary. Outside awards also may replace the family contribution.
