The Director of BioMed Research Administration is responsible for sponsored project activities and administration of all externally funded projects made to the Brown Medical School. Reporting directly to the Executive Dean for Administration and the Associate Dean of Research this position is part of the financial management team for the Medical School.

Christine Conway, BS, MBA - Manager BioMed Research Administration
The Manager of BioMed Research Administration provides research administration services within the Medical School. This position manages the Pre-award staff and assists faculty in locating outside funding sources by maintaining and updating the BMRA Website and the office's library of resource materials. Responsibilities also include overseeing the review process for all proposals submitted by the Division of Biology & Medicine to ensure compliance with all guidelines, and the research and development of monthly, quarterly and annual analyses of proposal and award data.

Deborah Pomerantz, Proposal Coordinator
The proposal coordinator is the initial contact for any BioMed faculty submitting a grant proposal. It is this position's responsibility to work with principal investigators to prepare budgets for proposal submission, interpret agency guidelines and assist them in all other aspects of grant preparation. Working against submission deadlines, the proposal coordinator reviews proposals for compliance with University, Division of Biology & Medicine, and funding agency guidelines. By maintaining a database to track IRB and IACUC data, this position ensures that proposals indicating use of human subjects or animal use have received appropriate approvals from the University IRB or IACUC.

The Coordinators, Grants & Contracts provide financial administration and management of over $14 million in research grant and contract awards for campus and hospital based faculty. The post-award staff verify expenditures for appropriateness, provide PI's with quarterly financial analysis on each account, and prepare financial reports as required by the funding agency. Their objectives are to facilitate research, to protect the Division from audit losses, and to ensure compliance with all Federal regulations and University and Division policies.
