Admission Requirements
All applicants are expected to have attained competence in the sciences that are basic to medicine and sufficient to provide adequate preparation for medical school. Generally, such competence is demonstrated by successful completion of the following courses completed in an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada within the previous ten years:
- Biology - 1 semester
- Calculus - 1 semester
- General Chemistry - 2 semesters
- Organic Chemistry - 1 semester
- Physics - 2 semesters
- Social/Behavioral Sciences(e.g., anthropology, sociology, psychology, economics or political science) - 2 semesters
Applicants need not have completed all premedical courses at the time of application, but required courses must be completed and documented prior to matriculation at Alpert Medical School. Applicants who believe that they have demonstrated competence in these disciplines in an alternative manner may describe relevant individualized work, research, or employment on the secondary application form. Also, applicants who have received Advanced Placement credit in one of the above areas may apply those credits for the satisfaction of the above requirements or may elect to take a more advanced level course appropriate to their academic background.
