We are delighted by your interest in medical education at Brown and proud to showcase a medical school in an exciting period of change and expansion.

As part of an Ivy League university, Alpert Medical School has the talent and resources that are integral to a rich and challenging medical education. As the only school of medicine in Rhode Island, Alpert Medical School affords unparalleled access to the state's richly diverse population, ensuring you a unique connection to your patients and their surrounding communities. With total student enrollment under 400, small class sizes mean fewer students in core courses and in clinical rotations, resulting in meaningful relationships with the outstanding physicians who are your teachers, mentors, and colleagues.

Our medical curriculum offers the flexibility to pursue your own interests outside the core medical studies. Through the Scholarly Concentrations Program, for example, you may opt to pursue cross-disciplinary study and research on topics ranging from medical humanities to global health and disaster medicine and response. At the same time, our Doctoring course places you'in your very first week of medical school'in direct contact with patients, supervised by a physician mentor who provides an intensive grounding in medical ethics and professionalism.

Superb clinical training opportunities are located just minutes from campus in settings as varied as a Level 1 trauma facility with a state-of-the-art emergency department, a VA medical center, a top-ranked psychiatric hospital, and a children's hospital. Our seven teaching hospital partners offer training opportunities that capitalize on the latest advances in biomedical technology, such as a patient simulation center, electronic medical recordkeeping, computerized radiographic imagery, computer-assisted robotic surgery, and more.

At Alpert Medical School, we strive to produce physicians who are enlightened scientists and fully realized human beings, skilled in the technologies of the present and prepared for those of tomorrow.
