"I came to Brown in 1998 as a triple board resident. The clinical experiences, the collaboration among the three departments, the sense of community within the program all make this a tremendous training setting. The program opened my eyes to opportunities I hadn't even imagined before I started my life as a Triple Boarder. The Triple Board community at Brown continues to grow as more and more graduates stay in the community or take faculty positions here at Brown! "
Adam Pallant, MD PhD
Associate Training Director, Triple Board
Director of Training, Pediatrics
Assistant Professor, Pediatrics
"As the program director in Categorical Pediatrics, I can barely imagine a truly well rounded training program that doesn't have a Triple Board presence. The Triple Board program provides a consistent richness and reminder of thinking of each child in a holistic fashion, body and mind together.
Simply put, one would find it VERY difficult to find a more robust setting to meld the practices of child health and psychiatry in a supportive, educationally thorough yet "hands on" learning program, while also in a gorgeous and outstandingly livable setting. What more could one want?
While we may be working amongst three departments, the program leadership in each department is fully committed to the Triple Board training process. Additionally, all three of the co-directors representing each of the categorical programs share a similar spirit, philosophy, and goal for the training program, making the working relationships uniquely fresh, positive, progressive and fun."

Aaron L. Friedman, MD
Sylvia Kay Hassenfeld Professor of Pediatrics
Chair of the Department of Pediatrics
"Having worked in other settings without a Triple Board program, I had no idea how valuable the Triple Board program is to the education and training of pediatrics housestaff and faculty. The cross disciplinary discussion and unique insights pediatricians and child psychiatrists bring to patient care and to training makes the program uniquely exciting and a valuable training opportunity for all. "
Gregory K. Fritz, MD
Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior
Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Rhode Island Hospital
"Simply put, I think the Triple Board Program is the most innovative concept in graduate medical education in the past 2 decades. My experience participating in the training of TB residents since we started the program in 1985 has been incredibly satisfying. The program attracts bright self starters who are willing to work very hard if the training is worth it. As a group they are independent thinkers, passionate about helping children, and committed to making a big impact as physicians. Beyond those generalities, Triple Boarders are hard to characterize; the diversity of their interests and career trajectories continues to amaze me. People in the world at large now recognize what a good deal it is to have a triple threat physician working with them, so opportunities are virtually limitless for our graduates. At Brown, I think of the triple boarders as "pollen carriers" who serve an unexpectedly important function in uniting the three departments. We benefit substantially as institutions and faculty members from the triple board program while we work to provide a rich educational experience to the residents.
