Welcome to the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Program!
The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Training Program offers a unique integration of an unparalleled clinical training setting, a deep commitment to the integrated treatment of the psychological, behavioral, and somatic manifestations of mental illness, an enormously productive research program, and a culture of warmth and collegiality. The program also recently received a commendation from the ACGME’s Residency Review Committee for meeting and exceeding all common and specialty specific training requirements.
Trainees develop their clinical skills while caring for patients from diverse backgrounds at Bradley Hospital, the nation’s first hospital dedicated solely to child and adolescent psychiatry, and Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the state’s only pediatric hospital. A large faculty of seasoned academic clinicians and scientists provides supportive supervision and mentorship that lead to the creation of lifelong professional relationships. As part of the Brown University Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, trainees maintain access to the academic resources of one of the top research departments in the country. The program offers a flexible, minimal call schedule in a livable, affordable, and exciting city within easy reach of beaches, quaint rural New England, and also Boston and New York. Graduates of our program have gone on to assume leadership roles around the country in teaching, research, and administration.
Train at Brown, and you will develop sophisticated clinical skills, provide the highest quality care to children and families, collaborate with leaders in the field, and retain time and energy for family and friends; in short, you will prepare for a gratifying and balanced professional life.
