Brown DPHB Forensic Psychiatry Program
Overview
Forensic psychiatry is a subspecialty of psychiatry that addresses the interface between mental health issues and the legal system. Forensic Psychiatry at Brown University’s Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, a multidisciplinary program, consists of faculty from the disciplines of psychiatry, psychology, pediatrics, social work, and the law. This program is dedicated to promoting excellence in the areas of education, training, clinical consultation, research, and community improvement. The faculty members represent nationally recognized leaders in their respective fields and professional organizations. The Forensic Psychiatry Program is undergoing significant growth in its diversity and relationships with institutions throughout the state of Rhode Island and beyond. A one-year Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program in currently being developed, and it is anticipated that it will enroll its first postgraduate trainees in July 2011.
